    Who knew trying to find
    Loctite Blue Medium 242
    would involve three stores
    (Walmart, Northern Tools, & Ace)
    and coming home empty handed?

I'm going to give the under $3 stuff from Harbor Freight a try. It's not going to be used on anything important, but the four screws are tiny and the replacements basically have to be ordered from the manufacturer.

Oh yeah, the amount I need for each screw will be applied with a thin needle, literally.

Edit: The Lowes website shows them having Loctite Blue Medium in stock. ?????

FWIW I have used the Permitex stuff in various applications and it has not failed me.

If it's the same Permatex brand I used back when I worked on my own cars I'd have problem using it.

I used the Harbor Freight HFT Medium Strength Threadlock No. 42. The rear sight with four screws is on a rifle that won't see a high round count, & could end up with red or green dot optic.

I noticed that Sam's Club has four bottle, different strengths, packs of Loctite. Maybe there are people who buy that much Loctite at once?

I just want to point out, as it's way too late to edit,
I meant to say I would have no problem using current Permatex products.

    ********

We had a potential tornado move through our area, but well north of Houston.

All of our three local major network affiliates preempted their normal national & world news programs with coverage of the potential tornado.

Yes, the nasty weather deserved additional coverage.

Yes, I can watch the news programs on the net.

    Yes, I'm bitching anyway.

I received a mixed lot of knives I won in a Goodwill on-line auction.

I hope this link works, seeing the images will explain the message I sent.

Used Lot Of Utility & Pocket Knives | ShopGoodwill.com

A copy-&-paste of the message I sent earlier today.

"Greetings. I'm extremely disappointed in how some of these knives were presented. The images of the four folding knives with the visually appealing handles didn't show the company safety award etching on the blades. Those etchings kill any monetary or trade value the knives might've had. The blade in the folding knife with the large thumb hole is extremely loose, so much so it is impossible to miss and should've been mentioned in the listing. Fortunately a few of the knives are worth keeping for the price I paid. I'm an active Goodwill bidder & customer who is now questioning whether the misleading images and inadequate description were simply an oversight, or an intentional misrepresentation."

Some additional complaining related to the above ^.

Our porch, which has hedges that provide some protection from prying eyes, runs along the front of the house, & forms a L shape with the driveway. Yesterday I had the front window curtains open while I was doing some work in my recliner, about six feet from the window.

I never heard the FdX truck or saw the FdX delivery person. Late in the afternoon I found two boxes (the one containing the 14" × 5.5" snare drum was fairly large) sitting where the driveway meets the porch. A location where anyone walking down the sidewalk, or driving down the street, could easily see the packages.

I know the delivery people are under great pressure to meet strict times, but it would've taken maybe two seconds to place the boxes a few feet further along the porch. I don't know if porch pirating is that common in our neighborhood, but why risk it? There is a group of middle school students who do stupid things on a regular basis, the most recent was two of them having a fist fight in the middle of the street while the others cheered.

A flip shot of the knives:

    By GW...
Would've caused the bidding to stall at a lower price. The safety award etchings really do destroy the value of the knives.

    By me...
If GW asks for images I'll send them, I should've done that the first time. I might send a second message with images Mon morning.
To show here...I don't currently have an account with a photo hosting site. I'm not sure if TFP will allow me to post images directly.

Goodwill S&H charges are already ridiculously high (they even put a video on YouTube trying to explain why the charges are so high!), so I factor that plus tax into how much I'm willing to bid. Sort of like figuring how much the buyer's premium will increase the final price at an auction. Frequently their S&H is so stupid high it kills the deal immediately.

I mention the high S&H charges because it adds a negative factor, esp when you experience a misleading auction.

Oh yes I meant by GW in the sale listing.
