    I wouldn’t mind a Parliament
    More, faster elections
And the prez becomes a PM
    With a lot less power

    With one House
And certainly not as wacky as Italy

    I wish no parties allowed
    Everyone is independent

With modern computers there could be some interesting election concepts. Like, each voter can write down up to 100 names of who they think should be in the "new senate". And then use rank voting to come up with the top 100 names. And I bet it would never be done again, but you could get some good people in there and some really bad ones too... Being famous is going to be more important than knowing how government works.

I would like to see anti-voting implemented if we continue with political parties. It would be controversial and a nightmare for establishment campaigns and the media to explain, but in the primary, if enough Democrats vote against one person on the GOP candidates in the primary, that person wouldn't be able to win. Same with the GOP taking out the Democrat they most dislike. It might make the polarization a little better if neither side gets someone who only appeals to their base and the other side hates.

    Followup...or tangent event...
High-profile Republicans reportedly Zoomed to discuss forming their own center-right party

Looks like quite a few are breaking with Mr. T
I still think they've got a LONG way to go. Some of these figures have done some miserable things and haven't acted or spoken with honesty or integrity.
However, something is better than nothing,
And I do believe in redemption.
BUT...I also believe people can slip back.
So as Reagan said, Trust but verify. (that goes for everyone...no matter the party)

No matter what NAME you call yourselves, you gotta rebuild that rep.

Truly the elephant in the room...

There’s a good portion of the population that’s really screwed up. 33%
    A third of the population...
and many wouldn’t hesitate to use force to get what they want.

The key is, they do NOT respect that other people live in the same world.

Question is...they’ve shown what they want
    And what they’re capable of
    AND they won’t stop

What do we do about it???

Sure, “some” are breaking with them
But there’s still an infection, a raging infection.
What do you do about it?

    They’ve tried everything
    Tried to be fair
    And still they rage

Is it time to do serious actions??

What do you do when a part of your family has become detached from reality?
    And has become a danger.

Nobody mentioned Rush Limbaugh dying (not that I've seen, but I've been dealing with power outages and bad water).

    He's not worth a thread.

My condolences go to his family and close friends, the people who knew him closely.

    Not his followers in general.

I also say good riddance to a right-wing asshole who played the Us vs Them divide to the maximum to increase his personal wealth. You could make the argument he helped create the extreme bipartisan divide we have today. He was also a hypocrite who bought his way out of a felony drug conviction,* and he attacked people on very personal levels.

    * I know that addiction to pharmaceutical opiates is a real problem. If Rush had been a street addict, or even a common white collar addict, with limited money and no powerful friends, he would've gone to prison. It must have been nice to be Rush Limbaugh, to be white, rich, and hold massive power in/over a political party.

    Followup on Rush croaking...
Opinion | We’re living in the world Rush Limbaugh created — The Washington Post

Yes, we are living in the nation created by Rush
...and Hannity, etc...all the media fear mongers past and present

And the fear mongering politicians too.

The have built up, fed on and glut a horde of conspiracy driven portion of the population.

    All for...money.

They get popular, get ads, get donations, get influence
All to gain more fame and fortune.

They don’t care if it hurts the nation
They don’t care if it hurts people

Their only care is manipulating to get more for themselves
    More attention, more ego strokes

Like any player, narcissist, that uses you and tears your heart out (but here, they pull from your wallet)

All the while claiming everyone ELSE is stealing from you.

Listen, the world isn’t magic...luck can be often crap
But you’re fooling yourself if you think it’s the fault of “others” outside your immediate vicinity.

Bad luck is usually driven by the pettiness and selfishness of those immediately around us.
And to be honest, often our own mistakes.

The only thing all people can do is work and fight
Secure yourself, prepare, climb, make good opportunities. Day after day.

    But there’s no conspiracy.
Government if done right isn’t bad.
Others aren’t out to “get you” or mucking up the system.

Rush was a bottom feeder, so are his like.
Fear, anger was his sugar to feed to the masses.

While I don’t wish ill on anyone
    Death is the great equalizer
The bad seed dies as much as the good.

The nation is a lot better without him.
    As it would without others.

We cannot ask for people’s death or harm
But we CAN turn the channel.

    Listen to better things
    Or even enjoy the silence

The Republicans have no desire to kill the cancer.
    They had their chance.
They let it go, with hopes it doesn't return.

Opinion | Rush Limbaugh died from lung cancer after denying smoking's risk. Why'd he believe his lie? — NBC News

You just explained the whole problem with the GOP currently...

They believe in their own lies.
They rely on skewed ideas for success

Ones that are created to sound good
    Not what actually works

And instead of being surprised when it doesn’t work
They double down on the lie.

    Taxes
    Immigration
    Government isn’t good
    Even the friggin’ riot
    Etc...

    First principal, do what’s healthy.
Not excessive but balanced and rational
    Ask: what gets good results?

Watch then to SEE if it gets good results
Don’t just keep spitting out a lie.
    Even to yourself

Leaked Video Shows Alex Jones Ranting That He's So 'F**king' Sick Of Trump

Yes, we're sick of him too.
    BUT for different reasons.
Most of us for the chaos and damage he creates

YOU because he's mucking up your con.
What happens when multiple cons and scam-artists overlap???

T, Jones, McConnell, Fox News, etc, etc, etc...
There's only so many suckers and dupes in the nation.

You're like hyenas or vultures all fighting over the same dying victim.

The number of people falling for the fake, or greatly exaggerated, right-wingers cons is amazing, but not surprising. Many people are like one of my gullible sisters, just touch on something they want to believe and you have them hooked.

What will happen when the GOP needs--or at least wants--the money that's going directly to Trump?

How will the PACs determine who gets how much?

Whar happens if Trump is forced to step back?

What happens if Trump makes a (hopefully failed) run at being the GOP presidential candidate in '24 that splinters the GOP?

The GOP in general, most US Senators specifically, and Right Wing loudmouths, created Trumpenstein. And lost what very little control they had of him.

With the $1.9 trillion COVID relief legislation, American Rescue Plan, signed into law last week and widely popular across the country (including among Republicans), Congressional Republicans who trashed it and voted against it are now applauding it and taking credit for it ("... Biden Administration has just implemented my bipartisan COVID relief bill" ).

Is this what that article has for the 5 tribes?
It would be curious what the national map of their breakdown would look like. If they are pretty evenly split up, or if there are certain areas with more and less types.

I would classify those 5 groups in a different way:

    -Religious Evangelicals
    -Gun Lovers
    -Blue Collar/Anti-globalist/Immigration Restriction
    -Rich Country Club/Business/Tax Cut Types
    -Loony Internet Trolls/Racist

Republicans on Biden’s Covid bill: We bungled this one — POLITICO

The GOP is totally missing the point...

This is NOT a football game.
Not ANY game to compete in.
    Make the other team/groups lose.

This is to make the nation and its people better.
    Help them.
    Build resources.
If they’re doing good then the nation is stronger.

THIS is what the bill was for.
Now you might quibble on the details or methods.
It was to help during a crisis!!!

But it’s not just to destroy, delay and disrespect
    Anything to undermine your competition.

I hate people like this at work.
Even more so by those responsible to represent us.
Our job is to build and better.

NOT make you look good by making everyone else look bad.
