I just finished season three. It was... ok. Just too many dumb moments in the series for me.

I really liked The Walking Dead's comic and the TV show started off extremely well.

Lately though, especially since Season 3 began, I have come to dislike the progress of the show and the way they're milking TWD as a franchise.

They also built an entire cult around TWD with the help of social media. In the past 24 hours my facebook page was spammed with all sorts of "edgy" memes on today's return of the TWD show.

Fuck everything about what TWD has turned into. I'm done with it.

Just watched Episode 3. This Governor fellow looks quite promising, will be interesting to see what happens with him.

Seeing Merle back in the show was a nice surprise

and this Woodbury town gives them a new large set to play with story-wise.

When are those idiots going to learn to protect their medics??

Docs, nurses, vets, medics...anyone with medical knowledge should NOT be allowed to endanger themselves.
I don't really give a flying fuck if they feel they want "to do their part".

They'll do their part when someone gets an infection, sick, etc...

I didn't know any of this stuff was going on. This is getting worse than a limp dick on a first date.

Yea. The season premiere was meh. Goofballs need a little more TTPs when scavenging for materiel. Who would think going off alone in a dark building filled with unknown threats is a good idea?

Episode 4 "The Killer Within" was outstanding. Nice balance of killing off two major characters and bringing two of the prisoners into the main group.

The Walking Dead 4x02 Promo "Infected" (reblogged from thewalkingdeaad)

Excerpt from my on-the-fly recap of episode 4.01:
Rick met a crazy lady alone in the woods who lured him back to her camp where we’d assumed her husband was waiting–then tried to knife (not kill) Rick as she needed “something living” for her loved one to eat (who, between you and me, I think will appear as the zombie baby that's been talked about BTS). She saved Rick the trouble and killed herself but she asked to be left to turn so she could stay with the mystery entity under the burlap. Creepy.

Here’s a shot of the walker that was showed prominently in episode one. There are no bite marks on him. He just looks like a walker that had bloody tears.

You don't have to be bitten...you just have to die to turn into a zombie.
It's an infection that everyone already has. (on the show, that is)
That's why it's standard policy to destroy the head or burn someone after they die now. (again on the show)

Actually, I think their zombies have gotten better looking. Gross-er, more zombie like.
Maybe because there's an underlying continuing industry now in Hollywood.
Make-up artists are better in zombifying
Extras know their shambling, shuffling and swaying better. (groaning and growling too...)
Directors are better at getting the angle & shot that shows the zombie terror.
Or maybe they got extra FX funding too.

    People's expectations are more also.

I do like the way the zombies act and are treated in the series. If only the main characters weren't so zombie like in their acting. The formula of meet new people, decide to let them in, then they get killed in all manner of weird ways or don't let them in and they come back again and again.

Yes, Greg Nicotero has been the head (no pun) zombie master on the series since Day 1. He is considered among the best in the industry and he is constantly looking for new ways to show (old) zombies. He believes that many of The Walking Dead zombies have been rotting for some time now and thus, their look changes. But his budget is not getting bigger. AMC has been notorious in their tight-fistedness regarding the show's entire budget so Nicotero improvises. Judging from fan reaction he does so very well. He also directs and is an EP on the show. I think he's earned it. Here's how he choreographed the "raining walkers" scene from episode 4.01:

Zombies go to "zombie school" and the good ones have a steady job as they are under so many layers of make-up, unless you have a very sharp eye you won't notice the same actor returning season after season. The one I do notice is Nicotero himself, who thus far has made a cameo zombie appearance each season (for reference, he is the walker who attacked Andrea's sister Amy, in season one).

Yes, "it" is an infection that everyone has BUT this season there is something else, seemingly a virus. And yes, it does kill and so, when dead, you turn into a zombie. We found out some time ago that you do not have to be bitten to turn--just die.

What I see as a very large problem is that our heroes were getting complacent. The population they brought in from Woodbury were by definition, the sick, the elderly and the young. Everyone will die at some point but the first two in that group need to have some protocol in place for when they die--otherwise what happened by accident at the end of the season 4 premiere will be a matter of course each time someone dies a so-called natural death. In this environment, even a child with severe asthma, for example, could die prematurely for lack of modern medical care. They don't seem to have realized this yet. I'm guessing now the topic may arise--depending on how many survive this season.

"Fans of the comic book have been waiting for years to see their favourite characters come to life on the small screen and after three years they are still waiting."
Another hilarious and well done job from them. Gave me some season 3 spoilers but they were not surprises and I half expected to see a few of them when I started watching it.

  18. Thanks for showing that pic of the bleeding eye zombie Fangirl since I wondered why they kept showing him while I was watching that episode. I won't spoil it for anyone, because I don't know how to do the spoiler tag thing, but now that I have put two and two together, I can't wait to see how that story line plays out.

Also, am I sick individual because I always thought killing zombies through the fence sounds like fun??? All through season 3 I was wondering why people just didn't do a daily killing of the zombies that lined the fence. I thought maybe they wanted to keep the smell down, but then they started doing it. It looks fun.

I like this too...I don't what some of them are complaining about.
What a way to get your frustrations out. (about zombies too... ;))

Although, I'm sure after a while it would get boring.
Nah...just think of how many ways brains can spew. :p
