I thought it was great and next week looks even better!
Here's are some of my favourite moments. I like how we are getting a balance of character developments and plenty of action and gore.

Rick Grimes in season 4 - “Infected” [0402]
“I don’t like it, but… we have to protect her. Yes, we do.”

As Daryl explained to Beth when he told her of her boyfriend's death in episode 1, (He's) just getting tired of losing people is all." After Carol inquired about how he was faring in the wake of the cell block D deaths he replied that he was fine--as he "had to be."

I think Daryl is showing the weight he's been bearing as Rick took his farmer Rick hiatus leaving Daryl, who is second-in command of the fighting, in charge. Daryl has never wanted to be in charge, rather he's been a good soldier. I think we see the beginning of him cracking--though we cannot know yet if he will tough it out or go the temporarily insane route as Rick did. I think if Carol were to die it might push him over the edge. Nice emotionally nuanced performance by Norman Reedus.

So at top of these gifs we have Patrick non-nom-ing on a Woodbury redshirt. Cool scene.
The rest of the gifs are character development which the story needs for us to care whether they live or die.

Michonne and little Judith may have puzzled some people but I'm glad they let us fill in the blank which most likely was that she lost her own child in the apocalypse. Rick crippling the piglets and feeding them to the walkers was awful. Even he cried for the life he knows he cannot ever have--he threw it away with them.

    POSSIBLE SPOILER.. EDIT
EDIT: Older sister Lizzie was feeding the rats and by doing so attracting walkers. Her intent was NOT to feed the walkers but rather her
“pet zombie,” Nick. Lizzie's younger sister Mika tells new foster mom Carol (Melissa McBride) when Lizzie declines to learn how to kill walkers, that she is “messed
up, not weak.” Later, we learn that Lizzie and Mika’s now-dead dad has
taught them “survival skills” (like how to catch a rat if you’ve nothing
else to eat?). That would mean that the threat to the chain-link fence was just a crazed little girl...but who killed Karen and the unnamed guy who was sick and quarantined? Pretty darn unsettling for Tyreese, who I foresee will have massive personality change as a result of that loss and maybe another one very close to his heart? (you other comic book readers probably see the change coming as well).

Season finale was a bit disappointing I thought. Something closer to the graphic novel would have worked better in my opinion.
Now for a possibly long wait on season 4, might buy them on itunes one at a time if that works out for me.

I really think it is OK for you to stop upsetting yourself with this dreck and perhaps choose something more to your liking.
You add nothing to this thread by simply complaining and not explaining what you are complaining about.

Or maybe you can invest less of yourself in a fictional TV series, instead of being dismissive of others.

How about engaging Misguided on what he/she is complaining about?

Maybe you're not adding anything to this thread if you're only going to look at all the ways TWD is awesome, while completely ignoring negative bits about it that are brought up and not even discussing that it may have flaws?

    Discourse much, eh?

EDIT: Or in other words, I really think it is OK for you not to get too passionate about TWD that others' opinions on it get to you.

I would love to see a spinoff set in this universe in an entirely different location. Set somewhere like Seattle or elsewhere on the opposite side of the country. With brand new characters of course and no ties to anybody seen in the graphic novels.
I would go with (borrowing this in large part from my notes for my own post apocalyptic story) a serial killer on death row just two weeks from execution that survives the chaos and becomes the leader of a group.

Aside from the lack of air-conditioning and hot food. I'd totally love a zombie apocalypse.

Why should I engage with someone who is in essence, trolling the show? ("TWD sucks but I won't say why.") Why does it suck? Because it's not enough like the comic, is it the acting, the story lines, the special effects? Carl won't stay in the house? What?

What negative bits? Cite them or more to your point, Misguided, needs to be specific about what exactly he/she is complaining about. I can't discuss the show if I have no back and forth.

I'm not going to presume that someone with a job of great importance would have time to read my critique/complaints about the show but I have critiqued and made suggestions--a number of times. I say what I don't like and why and sometimes even add what I think might work better. So bring on the discourse. I'll match anyone point by point.

I invest myself in several television series because I get paid to do so, (obviously not by the TFP) and because I am passionate about the ones that appeal to me. (I used to be a clinical psychotherapist then I went into heart failure, nearly died, and after years of recovery retired from the high-stress of that position.)

What annoys me and what I've shut up about for neatly two years is when people drop by and dump their criticism like a turd here on the forum and then leave...without explaining anything. I stand by my prior statement that it adds nothing to the discussion when this happens.

If you're going to throw the "troll" argument around, there's not much left to be said. What people perceive to be trolling nowadays gives me a headache.

Discuss the show the way you want, but if others simply want to "drop a turd" (descriptive skillz, ahoy), then it's just as much their prerogative to do so as it is yours to be to not engage them on their positions because you've already made presumptions on their merits.

    Have fun with that.

Indeed, it's pointless dealing with your crap. Bloody useless.

In other news, I unliked myself from multiple Zombie fanpages to stop the incessant flow of superedgy TWD memes.

What once was an appreciation for zombie culture is now commercialized mainstream stupidity.

    Zombies, aren't they cool.
    Eat them up, yum.

Actually, I liked this week's episode...we saw lots of progression.
And some revealing background about some of the more mysterious characters.

And I thought the solution for the zombie mass was brilliant.
    Rick's back.

Episode 402 The Walking Dead, Impaled walker at the gate

To me, zombies are inherently funny. I like how the show The Walking Dead injects little bits of humour into it to reflect that. I like the balance of being scared (or startled, more likely) with the moments of brief comic relief.
Character development is going well this season. There's a mystery, too! When was the last time we had that? This show is engrossing. I watch it with my spouse. We walk the pooches afterwards and talk about what we liked and didn't. (Example: Last season, they destroyed Andrea's character long before she actually put herself down. She's a hero in the comic books. I was annoyed. Every week.)
But new season, new showrunner & writing, fresh stories, great zombie effects. I'm digging it.

Again, they violate basic survival rules.

"Keep your eyes on the road!"

    Didn't anyone watch "Zombieworld"??
Or read the Zombie Survival Handbook?

Or grow up in the real world?
Ex: I look both ways before crossing the road.

My spouse yelled at the TV when Daryl was fooling with the radio and not looking at where he was driving.
He yelled too, when Carol knifed a walker then made a big deal about trying to get the knife out--which could have cost her her life when she had a second knife. Spouse was all, "Leave the knife!"

I yelled when Rick asked Carol THE question and she said, "Yes." I imagine I had sort of a Home Alone face. I was not expecting that and spouse totally called it. Except for some stupid human stuff, good, solid episode.
Tyreese is gonna be a fully-formed character, not just a T-Dog!
