Just that there wouldn't be a firestorm of media drivel, looking to stir up shit, since it would be a relatively routine crime, instead.

 

Perhaps the routine profiling of young black men, both institutionally with programs like NYC "stop and frisk" and personally with comments like "these asshole always get away" is a reason to stir up shit.

 

So, is "assholes" referring specifically to the color of his skin or his age bracket or his attire?

I mean, put a ginger on my lawn and I'll call that little fuck an asshole just as quickly, dude.

I wont dispute your characterization of "asshole" both generally and in Zimmerman's words.

The fact remains that if you are a young black man, there is a much higher likelihood of being profiled and stereotyped as a "threat" than a young white man, in both the criminal justice system and in personal reactions and behaviors.

We can ignore it and it will continue or we can "stir up shit" and acknowledge it and attempt to address it.

I would suggest that race relations and racial profiling, rightly or wrongly brought to the forefront as a result of this case, is a still a pressing matter...one that we continue to ignore and pat ourselves on the back for coming so far in the last 50 years.

Or we could post links to Fuck white people and call it even.

I have a hunch that sans gun, Zimmerman leaves the harassing of minorities to the experts, drives home, eats the better part of a frozen pizza and falls asleep before he has a chance to clean himself up after jerking off to pretend hidden camera pornography.

Nor was he 6'2 and 175 lbs. He was 5' 11" and 158lbs.

The media plays it both ways. The truth is always somewhere in the middle.

And I have yet to learn what 'grave error' Trayvon made though I'm beginning to realize that in some places in the South, it's once again an error for young black men to react as any white man would in the same situation. Best he just shuffle his little "nigga" ass home once he'd been profiled.

And I've yet to see any real evidence (aside from the defendant's claim) that Trayvon wasn't attempting to do just that when he discovered he was being followed by an older Latino looking man. If Trayvon did confront his pursuer, he would certainly have had a right to do so, under Florida's "stand your ground" laws.

That was my scenario for Zimmerman. If it were me, the masturbation would have occurred in the context of season 3 of The West Wing.

Trayvon's 'grave error' was that he was walking through an unfriendly neighborhood at an odd hour. No different than a gringo kid walking through the barrio or Roachboy attending a Tea Party convention.

Zimmerman was a predator. Just because he was wearing the meatsuit of a fat guy on neighborhood watch doesn't say much. Scumbags across the spectrum are all very interested in protecting their turf.

We can argue all night about how shitty it is that America has that as a reality but the reality is still the same: you should avoid certain places late at night because it's dangerous and people are nuts.

Trayvon didn't "do anything." This is 100% true in the limited scope of the incident. But he was at the wrong place at the wrong time and became a victim of crime. Man-bites-dog part is what gets us.

The media expects the Trayvons to do the shooting and the Zimmermans to do the dying. The fact that it was the opposite of that is what made for a great news story for the 24/7 Ticker Gods (TM).

A 17 year old Stan would have acted much like Travon did. If I wasn't doing anything wrong, I would have told Mr Zimmerman to fuck off.

A Stan of any age would never have gotten out of the car.

I think you could make an equally good case for Travon Martin standing his ground and defending himself. It would seem that the law is truly fucked if we attribute legality to the winner of a gunfight.

 

Watch where you're pointing that barrage of inflammatory reason.

 

If some creepy fucker was following me home, the last thing I'd want to do was actually lead the creepy fucker to my house where people I care about live and where said creepy fucker could return at his leisure.

I think it could be argued that Zimmerman following Martin was at the very least an act of psychological violence. Martin had a much more credible reason to feel threatened than did Zimmerman, who could have walked away at any moment (prior to the moment where Martin was kicking his ass).
