Watched him tonight. We watch Sunday night's eppy on Monday night.
He really shines in this long-form format.
Wish I had started watching him sooner--I was over Colbert and tiring of Stewart (though I thank Stewart for making Oliver's gig possible).
Sadly, John Oliver is now on break until 2015!

It bums me out! I like that they made fun of fun for taking such a long break.

The salmon cannon bit in the last episode had me hooting.

He has me laughing--sometimes I sputter--in every episode. The salmon was funny...and all the people they recruited to be a part of it!

I loved seeing Dwight Howard get smacked around by some salmon.

Just saw him live at the Concert For Valor.
Funny as hell, just not long enough.

I wish they would have given him Bruce Springsteen's time, much better worth.

His take on equal pay for woman is brilliant.

I think this is one of his best pieces since the one on Net Neutrality.

The political system tends to respond to what the electorate wants. And a strong majority of American voters want NOTHING TO BE DONE about infrastructure, if it costs any money or causes the slightest inconvenience.

Easier to fix the bridges when they collapse and deal with minor "collatoral damage" like crushed cars and a few lives lost rather than spend large piles of money to fix things.

This played a small part in why I retired at the earliest age I possible could. Between the fines and civil forfeiture it's just become legalized criminal activity in my opinion. Now with these private probation companies "supervising" probationers it's just become a complete BS corrupt system in my opinion. It really hurts me to say that. I know so many decent, hard working, honest officers still on the job, they don't bare any responsibility in this but they are part it. Politicians own this mess and the public should be fucking feed up at this point.

    Fuck the feed barrel, indeed

I understand that part of the problem is that for many towns they lost the industries that supported them.
Now that the factories that paid taxes are gone they have turned to the way that small southern towns historically used.
The sad part is we recognized it as being evil and corrupt years ago but have now jumped on the business model.

It's kind of like how everyone condemns the Walmart business model but at the same time just most major retail stores have taken it on to one degree or another.
Of course now that Walmart has realized that the public relations from it is a killer and is trying to adapt it, the other companies are stuck trying with something that is basically inhuman.
