No shit. The winery that makes it is called "Hidden Legends Winery." This is their traditional mead, made using one of the ancient recipes. It's a little sweet, but it kicks ass. Love it.

Considering a glass of Gnarly Head Cab from a bottle we opened last night. It's actually pretty good for a cheap wine. Gnarly Head in general produces some pretty good value wines.

  11. I'm really not drinking this right now, but oh well. We went to a pub last night and I had a Sex On the Beach. I'm not a big partaker in frou frou drinks, but I get one every once in awhile. It was damn good.

Also, tonight I mulled wine. It was very successful-- all drinkers were pleased with it, and it warmed everyone up on a chilly night in our sukkah!

mmmmm mulled wine! Did you use cloves? I found that makes all the difference.

    Levite's Mulled Wine:

    1 bottle dry red wine
    1/8 cup triple sec
    1/8 cup kirsch
    1/8 cup apple cider
    1/4 cup pomegranate liqueuer
zest and juice of one lemon, zest peeled and not grated
zest of 1/2 orange, peeled and not grated
    3 tbsp honey
    2 tbsp fig jam
    1 tsp freshly grated ginger
    1 tsp Vietnamese cinnamon
    1/2 tsp powdered star anise
    1/2 tsp powdered mace
    1/2 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
    1/2 tsp powdered cardamom
    1/4 tsp powdered allspice
    7-10 whole cloves
    5-6 juniper berries, slightly crushed
a tiny pinch of powdered sumac

In a medium-large sauce pot, over a medium-high flame, heat the triple sec, kirsch, and pomegranate liqueuer until it begins to bubble, and set it afire. When all the alcohol burns off, add everything else. When the wine mixture begins to bubble, stir it well. Let it simmer for a bit, and then serve.
