    If you haven't seen it, or it's been quite a while, I highly recommend the film Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii. Despite the misleading title, it's not a concert film, it's more of a documentary. The last filming took place while they were working on some songs for the Dark Side of the Moon album.

    I've noticed something interesting. Musicians have a lot of respect for Tom Waits, even if they don't care that much for his music. IMO that says a lot about Mr. Waits. Oh, can't pass up the opportunity to suggest his live Nighthawks at the Diner album.

    Somebody with a better ear for music than me (that's all of y'all ;)) tell me: Is the above ^ version being played on an actual pipe organ? To my tone deaf ears it sounds "electronic."

    After listening to this all the way through, and parts of it several times, I have to agree with your opinion. But more than that, it's just not as good a performance, and the recording production is not as good, as your comparison.

    For comparison only:

    Your top notch comparo is organist Hannes Kastner performing on the restored "original" organ in the Thomaskirche in Leipzig, where Bach worked for the last twenty five years of his life. The organ that Bach himself used a few hundred years earlier. Not quite like playing "Vaya con Dios" on Les Paul's Les Paul. But close.

    Thank you for the info! The description provided by the YouTube poster was cryptic, IIRC.

    I gave the YT comments a quick look and see that three months ago someone was able to ID the performance.

    I'd say that Maestro Kastner has done Bach very proud.

    Edit--I now need to check some things that I hadn't previously heard (punny!), such as Bach never actually played this piece (???).
