King Swamp is one of those bands that folks sort of remember from the 90s but I really think they should get more recognition.
Former members of Shriekback moved to the south and absorbed everything they could of the blues and swamp music.
What came of it was an interesting sound that really should have picked up a bigger following.
I had to special order the second album Wiseblood because it is out of print.
I was feeling pretty stressed out today and needed a way to chill. Came across this:
"Studies found Weightless was 11 per cent more relaxing than any other song and even made many of the women "drowsy" in the lab. It induced a 65 per cent reduction in overall anxiety and brought them to a level 35 per cent lower than their usual resting rates. The song features guitar, piano and electronic samples of natural soundscapes. It is pierced throughout by buddhist-like chants that induce a trance-like state."
Band creates the 'most relaxing tune ever'
Seems to be working for me.
A local rock station got converted to country music about a year ago. It's still one of the presets on my car radio, because I had nothing to replace it with.
Today, on my way to work, I heard this song, and was very startled at the rapid-fire verses and reference to the "hood". Obviously rap has influenced country music!
This is a Townes Van Zandt song
Old school 80's glam rock...
but still appropriate advice to this day & age - Once Bitten, Twice Shy
My, my, my...
I picked up a really clean re-release of Razorblade Suitcase.
Bush really shined on this album and it shows on the vinyl with the original analog tapes bringing the murky depths of the sound up nicely.
When I saw the title, I thought this was Biblical, yet another despairing commentary about what happens in the book of Job.... but it's not.
This has been running through my head since yesterday afternoon.
