The United States Postal Service (U.S.P.S.) has issued a Marvin Gaye commemorative stamp on April 2, 2019, on what would have been the singer’s 80th birthday. The original Nov. 2018 announcement said, “With this new stamp in the Music Icons series, the U.S. Postal Service honors Marvin Gaye (1939-1984)—the ‘Prince of Soul’—one of the most influential music performers of his generation.
This is just so fucking beautifully frantic... I love it!
Magic Slim (w/his son Lil Slim) was the first live music that I went to after I moved to Lincoln. He had quite a local following. The first "white" club that Slim ever played was Lincoln's Zoo Bar Zoo Bar (Lincoln, Nebraska) - Wikipedia
in 1975 and over the years he recorded several albums at the Zoo Bar. Slim moved from Chicago to Lincoln in 1994, living here until 2011. "Chicago where I come from, Lincoln my home!" he told a radio interviewer.
