Mdou Moctar. The Jimi Hendrix of the middle east. That's a big claim I've heard, but he's definitely a guitarist.

 

I get the impression Wierd Al is a much better musician & more knowledgeable about music than his "goofy" persona suggests.

 

Professionals who obviously enjoy what they are doing. Costume changes, skits during the songs, just a good group of talented musicians who play a variety of styles.

 

I have heard this in decades. If interested read some of the comments (Al really is very, extremely smart).

Thanks for posting this; I hadn't heard that he'd passed away. I was just listening to a "Best of" compilation last month. My younger brother was a fan as well- that's how I found his music initially.

 

I never knew he wrote Many Rivers To Cross. My knowledge of Mr. Cliff basically came from being a Bob Marley fan, which showed me Mr. Cliff was the original "reggae star."

His music, & his strong singing, extended outside of reggae.
