fflowley Don't just do something, stand there!

We lucked out 8 or 10 years ago. Our local Ace store was a Kamado Joe dealer and we were close to purchasing one.
Then they dropped the brand to carry BGE and we got a great deal as they closed out their remaining Kamado stock.
    I love ours.
It was still a lot of money back then, but the prices have really gone up since.

When I got my XL BGE fifteen years or more ago, there was a much bigger gap at the time between the BGE and other kamado style smokers available. You could find another option or two, but the difference in quality, warranty, availability of accessories, and overall community support was massive. Since then, the other products have gotten better, there are more tips and tricks posted to learn how to seal up the other brands better, and the accessory market has grown exponentially. At this point, I think there are fair arguments either direction as to whether the BGE is worth the premium over some other brands. At the end of the day, I’m super happy with mine, have gotten almost two decades of very frequent use out of it without doing anything other than replacing the gasket every few years, and have no complaints. But I also wouldn’t knock anyone who says a different option makes more sense for them.
