High of 82 today. The heat doesn't smack you in the face, it mixes with the 75% humidity to envelop & smother you.

Damn that would be considered a very hot, steamy day up here in July or August.

Our high temps aren't that unusual for December, but the humidity is rather high.

    Wanna trade some weather ?

If you want our current 44F and rainy shit day you can have it, sure.
But I'm not sharing any of our snow!

Keeping in mind that Utqiagvik is a very long way from Anchorage but we have been having weird ups and downs the past few weeks.
Going from an unseasonably cold -3F all the way up to 35F with a fair amount of snow.
This stuff is weird and a bit scary.

"In Utqiagvik, Alaska’s northernmost community formerly known as Barrow, it hit 40 degrees (4.4 degrees Celsius) Monday morning.
That’s not only a record by six degrees (3.3 degrees Celsius) but it’s the warmest that region has seen on record from late October to late April, according to Rick Thoman, a climate specialist at the International Arctic Research Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks."

I home sick today, head cold from hell.
I've been up all night because I couldn't breath.
Hadn't checked outside but I heard the oh, so, familiar sound of whir, chunk, chunk, whir that meant someone was stuck.
    But in our parking lot.
So I look outside and there is four feet of snow and the guy who is stuck is driving a jacked up, pickup truck.
He must have thought he'd have no problem, but it sure didn't sound like he has studs.
It's still coming down pretty hard.
    This should be fun.

My coworker has a hybrid work schedule, so she didn't have to come in for a couple of days.

My area of Houston set two new high records this week, the biggie was 85F. I think a cold front next week is supposed to give us highs in the low 70s.

    Snow from the weekend.
It only stopped because the temps dropped to below zero.
    It's -6F right now.

It’s a nice 36 degrees at the moment. Only had some snow for 1 day. Now that it stopped raining for a couple hours, weatherman says visibility is 9 miles. Except, there are trees in the way. Lots and lots of trees.

The weather at the end of the week is going to be ugly here and in most of the country for that matter.
We have a nice snowpack now.
Thursday night into Friday it gets warm, windy and rainy then Friday afternoon we flash freeze with even higher winds.
I filled gas cans and checked over the generator yesterday.
It can get ugly fast when you have no power and it's windy and near 0F outside.

  14. Started the day at 38 degrees when I got up. Around 10, the temperature started falling and now at 7:45, it is 4 degrees. Only a dusting of snow, though, and not much ice. Tomorrow's high is due to be 20.

At about 10:50AM we're finally getting up to 32F.

We need a few full days & nights of above freezing to see if we have plumbing issues...again.

It's -4F with the rest of the week looking the same.
We are probably getting more snow tomorrow. Yippie.
Right now there are high winds so all the snow we got shoveled off the sidewalks and roads is blowing right back onto them.
We're used to crappy weather in the winter, just having it spread out a bit more.

Friday it was 15° in the shop, coldest it's been in the PNW for my entire life.

Everywhere was an ice sheet. I put on soccer cleats to stomp my way to cigarettes.
Good but I still fell one time.

I got home and bought a used pair of baseball cleats with metal blades sticking out for the next time it ices over.
