Ok, I have an issue that may be related to this.

I typically use IE9 to browse TFP. When I use the https link, I get the "Only secure content displayed" warning at the bottom. If I click "Show all content" it goes away, but comes back as soon as I go to another place on the board. If I ignore it for long enough, I often get a "running long script" error and TFP locks up. I can't figure out how to tell IE9 to ignore the "unsecure" content, and this problem has only popped up since the change. If I go to the http link, it seems like the board is locking up a lot more frequently for me too.

I browse a few other forums as often or more than I do TFP, and I have not had the issue happen anywhere else. It's happening several times a day here.

Any thoughts for an idiot that is better at handling people than technology?

Cool, thank you. I poked around in there the other day, didn't see anything obvious enough to an idiot like me, and then kind of have put up with it without bothering since. Since it is a work-issued laptop, I do my best not to fill it full of viruses, so I sometimes am overly cautious about changing things around.

That message is in our case referring to embedded content. Media sites don't frequently allow https, because it's resource intensive compared to http. So when sites like dailymotion or imgur are used on the TFP, the content gets embedded and pulled over http, which trips your browser to warn you that some of the content is insecure (unencrypted). It's completely harmless and safe to turn off.

The one site that allows https is youtube, and that's enabled. Google are total https evangelists, and you'll notice that all of their sites force https by default.

Great feature, glad to see it added. I have noticed that when I use an old link without SSL the forum would take longer than normal to load. But as soon as I turned on SSL it was as quick as it always has been. Anyone else notice this?

Yes once we documented this it became a feature. We are encouraging people to use the SSL by making the regular site load increasingly longer so that people will use SSL.

Okay, that isn't the reason but it will be forced SSL soon.

After a solid two month trial, all connections to the TFP web server are being redirected to SSL. You should notice that you all have the green bar/https/lock/however your browser of choice displays it. If you were still using the site on http, you should also notice that things are much quicker now.

Please report any problems to me, either via PM here or by emailing martian@thetfp.com.

I like this. Now I don't accidentally go over to that non-SSL bullshit.

I'm not so sure about that.

But I do know multiple font treatments are for plebs.

I dunno, that's the quote from my friend who works at a type foundry. I think he just wants to use more glyphs.
